Hello— this is coming to you late because, as I said, I’m in San Antonio for work. This is a weird town, y’all (not me assimilating to Texas….! Kidding). I’ve been here once before, but I had naively thought that the Riverwalk was like, a real river? Instead, it’s like if the Rainforest Cafe, Bourbon Street, New Orleans Square a la Disneyland, and some kinda racist Mexican/Native imagery all had a baby. A deranged baby with the spirit of Cinco De Mayo (stereotypical, not authentic, Americanized). Also, from what I remember about the Alamo, it’s small, next to an H&M, and the white boys who lost had enslaved peoples, so, yeah, I’m glad they lost, actually!
Anyway. Sorry if you’re from here?? But am I wrong.
I’ve been doing a lot of traveling this spring, along with a lot of other things coming my way, and I’m looking forward to a bit of down time. Resting is important! It makes sense that, astrologically, Aries season is coming to an end, and it’s about to be Taurus season on Friday— Taurses (Taurus’? Taurii??) value stability and home life, and boy, am I ready for that kind of energy. Mercury is still in retrograde, but eclipse season is over, thank goodness. Smaller issues of communication, travel, etc. might occur, but the overall chaotic energy should be dissipating.
It’s time to rest.
Sometimes I’m so tired it’s hard for me to fall or stay asleep, though, if that makes sense. The next time this happens, I’m going to try this small movement to see if it works. I do something similar in yoga when I’m winding down, and that always feels nice, so maybe this will, too?
It’s time to spring clean - I need to tackle my closet, my god - and this article took an interesting take on spring cleaning your mind, basically. Our brains are constantly overstimulated, overwhelmed, and bouncing from one topic to the next, so it deserves some love, too. I’m honestly not entirely sure if I understand the logistics of this article, but it’s an interesting thought process, nonetheless.
No recipe this week! Since I’ve been on the road I haven’t had much time to cook.
Today’s Poem: “Grace” by Alice Walker
Grace Gives me a day Too beautiful I had thought To stay indoors And yet Washing my dishes Straightening My shelves Finally Throwing out The wilted Onions Shrunken garlic Cloves I discover I am happy To be inside Looking out. This, I think, Is wealth. Just this choosing Of how A beautiful day Is spent.
That’s all from me. Stay safe, take care, and see you next time.
