Hello— I’m daydreaming of spring, even though I know we have a long way to go. Someone in Pennsylvania bothered some poor creature so it could soothsay some nonsense about the weather, but who are we kidding? With climate change, it was always going to be an early spring.
I’m in the restless part of winter, where, since Capitalism & Society won’t let me simply hibernate for weeks on end, I want to do something, anything. It also, perhaps, doesn’t help that I’m in the suburbs this winter, feeling like a grumpy, caged bear. But I have a vacation on the horizon, at least, so there’s that!
Anyway, onward.
I really enjoyed this newsletter from my favorite tarot reader, Jessica Dore:
She discusses the Cupid & Psyche myth and the fantasies vs realities of love. Perfect for the season (and we all know by now that I do, unashamedly, love Valentine’s Day).
If you love Highland Cows, then you’ll love Babydoll sheep. The Instagram algorithm is really hit or miss for me, but they hit it out of the park with the suggestion of following Apple Fox Farm, which is a “hobby farm in Connecticut” (of course it is).
Like?? How can anyone resist this??
I will say— a benefit to being in the suburbs is having access to a large kitchen with a lot of gadgets, including a pressure cooker. It’s soup and stew season, so here’s Pressure Cooker Miso Chicken Ramen with Bok Choy:
If you don’t have a pressure cooker but do have a slow cooker, for Step 1, instead of “cook[ing] on high pressure for 25 minutes”, cook for 4-6 hours. And for Step 3, instead of sautéing the bok choy for 3-5 minutes, sauté for 5-10 minutes. And voila! This was delicious. I got fresh-frozen ramen at the local Asian grocery store and it was perfect, but you can also substitute dried noodles if need be.
It’s the New Moon in Aquarius this week, on Friday afternoon. I love Aquarius’. That’s a sign that knows what it wants and what it wants is change. It’s a very hopeful sign; I would perhaps call Aquarius and Pisces the most hopeful signs in the entire zodiac. An Aquarius demands change because they believe the world is capable of being better. They haven’t given up, nor will they. I would say this is a disruptive (complimentary), visionary New Moon. So be like an Aquarius and envision the world you want to live in, your place, and how you can help get it there.
Now, today’s poem is special. I don’t normally take requests (not that anyone has really ever made any) but today! Oh, boy. My friend/Sag Moon soulmate Will brought this into my life via Instagram stories and it was too iconic not to share. So Will & I present to you, Dear Reader, “i’ve always liked serpents” by Jennifer of Jennifer’s Body herself, Megan (thee) Fox.
You’re welcome :)
That’s all from me. Stay safe, take care, and see you next time.
