raising my mai tai to flaco tonight, RIP flaco
good-bye, you were bigger than the whole (central park) sky, etc.
Hello- this is a pre-written post, so if anything has happened in the last few days, please forgive my lack of clairvoyance!
(Wouldn’t that be horrible to have? I’m sure there are certain benefits to seeing the future, but all I can think about is Cassandra. Clairvoyance without power is just tragedy in the making.
Come to think of it, most stereotypical traits that we consider “superpowers” all seem awful. Telepathy? It is so not my business what other people are thinking. Empathy? Please, my own emotions are enough. Invisibility? And that helps me or others how? Flying? I don’t like heights and there are too many aircrafts in the sky. Super strength? Boring. Give me teleportation and an eidetic memory and I’m set. On that note - who here has seen Madam Web? Is it as camp as I want it to be??)
Does anyone feel like January lasted for a very long time and February in turn has gone by very quickly? Yes, yes, I know technically February is the shortest month, but that’s not the point! Measured time is stupid. Why did we do this to ourselves.
This concept sort of ties into the idea of eating locally in the winter, and not just that, but eating what’s in-season. The idea of aligning ourselves more with what’s naturally happening in the earth versus just what you can get in the grocery store is definitely something I want to get into a habit of practicing as much as I can. I’ve joined CSA’s before and when possible, I try and buy locally and sustainably, but I think it’s a good goal for the year (and you know my philosophy on goals and resolutions: it’s not just for New Year’s! It’s never too late! Time is a social construct!)
Pivoting to something completely different, here is John Paul Brammer’s recap/review of what sounds like an insane movie called Assassin 33 A.D., in which, you guessed it, Jesus gets killed. This is, quote, “a movie where a masked-up hit squad travels back in time, mows down Roman guards in the Garden of Gethsemane, and puts a .45 in Jesus’ head in the first act.” Millions of years of evolution, and humanity has created… this. It’s a very long read, but extremely entertaining, as JP always is.
Ok, but if you want to watch a show that like, features both religion and absurdity, watch the K-Drama My Demon. I literally just finished it and I really enjoyed it. I was a little wary of starting another K-Drama featuring a powerful, immortal MMC and an FMC he’s constantly rescuing, but there was a fun twist to this one and it was ultimately very fun and satisfying.
This week’s astrology brings us a cazimi between the Sun, Mercury, and Saturn. A cazimi is when a planet is in the same exact position as the Sun, and it’s rare to have two planets be in the same place as the Sun (in this case, 9 degrees of Pisces). What does this mean for us? It means that whatever message we want to send out (Mercury, planet of communication) we must commit to is (Saturn, planet of commitments and structure). And because these two planets are in Pisces, a planet of feelings and vulnerability, it’s time to say the soft/quiet stuff out out and commit. What are we devoted to and how can we commit to it, loudly and proudly?
Today’s poem is from a book of poetry I’ve been reading, Kate Baer’s And Yet. Here is the titular poem:
That’s all from me. Stay safe, take care, and see you next time.
