virgo's groove (full moon's version)
Hello-- I am physically tired & spiritually cleansed; the duality of a Sunday night concert (worth it!). There is also a Full Moon in Virgo tomorrow, so if you feel urges to clean your house/do your taxes/get your life together, that may be why. I also tend to feel good at the beginning of months; I love a clean, fresh start.
I also love a man who can do both: be a sexy urban warlock and a cozy cottage-core hedge witch:
Anyway! This issue is a classic "What I'm Enjoying" edition, so without further ado, let's dive in:
I'm back on my bullshit (devouring K-Dramas) and the latest one is Love to Hate You. I'd previously heard about this show from two of my friends: one who loved it and who one very much did not. I liked it a lot! It was about a famous actor who is distrustful of women and a lawyer who hates men having to fake date (although that actually is so little of the show, honestly). Listen, is it problematic? Yes (so much "she's not like other girls" stuff). But also, the main couple is very cute together, it's silly as hell, and the male protagonist's best friend is like, so hot and has excellent hair (see below).
(I'm now realizing that this issue has become Unintentionally Thirsty, to which I say... you're welcome!!)
My reading tastes lately have veered toward: vaguely witchy, with lots of suffering men (but only some of them deserve it!). To that end, I highly recommend Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young and Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher. Spells for Forgetting is like if the entire town in Practical Magic was magical but also super creepy and it takes place in the PNW. Nettle & Bone is more fantastical and is about a princess who is trying to kill the abusive prince to whom her elder sister is married.
I was just telling my friend Tiara that I miss old-school/90s R&B. I miss the ballads. I miss the vibes. So I've been really into Jenevieve's album Division. Her song "Baby Powder" has those smooth vibes, with a little bit of some Tinashe vibes, too. In other more timely songs, I am obsessed with the song all the kids are dancing to, K-Pop girl group NewJeans' single "OMG".
Haven't cooked it yet, but tonight's meal is going to be Skillet Chicken with Mushrooms and Caramelized Onions. The comment section says it's also good when made with extra-firm tofu instead of chicken for the vegetarians among us! I'll be having mine with red wine and crusty bread from the bakery. (My review of last week's recipe: it was fine! I don't know if I would make again, but it was delicious and fed me for a solid week, which I appreciated.)
Today's Moon Fact: The "Dark Side of the Moon", aka the Far Side of the moon, the side we never see, is not actually dark: it gets just as much sunlight as the Near Side, aka the side which faces us. Sorry, Pink Floyd.

That's all from me. Stay safe, take care, and see you next time!
